[REQUEST] Can anyone explain how to create custom skin textures?

I have the default textures from Nexus, but my changes aren't showing up in-game. I'm probably just doing something wrong but I would love if someone could walk me through the required steps.
Similarly, has anyone mapped out the textures with labels? They're quite hard to understand.

I see that you got the files from Nexus. Have you taken a look at the recent write-ups Zigga made there?
