Mouse cursor while using controller

Howdy all.
I am using a controller with the steam version of the game and everything works well except for one issue I have been unable to resolve. I have messed around with many input configurations and it still persists.
While using the controller the mouse cursor is absent from the screen however whenever i enter into conversation with a character it reappears mid screen and stays until I move it off screen with my mouse.
