I know exact changes that need to be added in this mod, to fix this issue. Generally speaking, mods made originally for 0.8.3 do not need a lot to be made compatible with 0.8.8:
1) Exhibitionist stat need to be added to characters, with value of 100, if they don't need to be embarrassed naked
2) Roaming command needs to be changed, to use new name
And that's it. Usually the bigger issue are older mods, including those that functioned correctly in 0.8.3.

As the guy who actually made that mod I have no problem with you making whatever changes you want. I was working on modding the original story (doing edit of it directly), as well as looking into converting CSC made stories to readable JSON, that they can be modded by hand.
Let me refresh that knowledge with ESP story, and when I'm able to load ESP story as such, doing those couple of edits should not be a big problem.

I've started making a guide how to convert old 0.8.3 mods to 0.8.8, including conversion from CSC format to readable JSON (so it can be fine tuned by hand)

In addition to these handful of changes that were already called out, any time you're hand-editing a custom story don't forget to ensure that any and all references to StoryName in the files are aligned/an exact match to .story file name and the containing folder for the .story and .character files, and that any references in the files to House Party version are matched to the current game version you're playing.
