READ FIRST - House Party Log Locations for Bugs, Crashes, and More

When reporting an issue gather all applicable log files (refer to the "Helpful when" explanation for each of the below). In addition, be ready to provide your PC specs (Windows version, CPU model, GPU model, and system memory/RAM amount).

You should be able to copy and paste any provided folder locations right into your Windows File Explorer. Make sure you have "Hidden Items" or "Show Hidden Files/Folders" enabled in your View settings.

When providing these files, linking to them via pastebin.com or other equivalent, reputable file hosting site is preferred, or you can send them along with a link to your Bug Report post to support@eekllc.com.

Unity "Output Log" and "Player Log"
Helpful when:
Always

Where to Obtain:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\House Party\

Look for "player.log" if playing 0.20.0 or above (1.0.0 or higher included).
Look for "output_log.txt" if playing 0.19.4 or earlier.

House Party Debug Log
Helpful when:
Any bug that does not crash or freeze the game is encountered

Where to Obtain:
Press the F5 key while you are in the game world with the game un-paused, as soon as you notice a problem occurring. Then hit the Save to Log button to save a Debug Log file. The Debug Window will provide you with the location of the file, but by default the Debug Log will save to:

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Eek\House Party\DebugLogs

If you are reporting a gameplay or story bug and want to be extra SUPER helpful, before saving a Debug Log, open up the console (` or ~ key or ö or ò on some non-US keyboards) and type "infodump" without the quotes, and hit Enter/Return. Then save the Debug Log as explained above. This will give us a bunch of info about each character.

You can also open the console (` or ~ key or ö or ò on some non-US keyboards), then type: debugmode 1

This will ensure that every time a game session is ended (unless the game is force-closed or crashes), a debug log is saved.

Crash and Error Logs
Helpful when:
The game crashes or freezes, accompanied by a pop-up window

Where to Obtain:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\Eek\House Party\Crashes

Please provide ALL files within the crash folder! There may be as many as 3-4. If no pop-up window appears, the game might not have "caught" the issue, and no crash/error log will be created. Please provide other logs described in this article.

DXDiag/DirectX Info
Helpful when:
Any crash, freeze, input, frame rate/"lag", graphics, or audio issue is encountered

Where to Obtain:
Run or Start Typing "DXDIAG" in your Windows Start bar, and select and open DXDiag.exe.

In this program there will be a "Save Information" button that will save all the DirectX info to a file. Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Desktop.

Windows Error/Event Reports
Helpful when:
Any crash, freeze, input, graphics, or audio issue is encountered

Where to Obtain:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\

You may also be able to find Windows Error/Event Report files here:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Temp\
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\

Also check the \ReportArchive folder in the above location(s). Look for folders with names very similar to "AppHang_HouseParty.exe_" followed by some letters/numbers. Inside will be a .WER (Windows Error Report) file that we can review.

Running Process List
Helpful when:
Any crash, freeze, input, graphics, or audio issue is encountered

Where to Obtain:
While House Party is still running, go to your Start Bar/Menu and type (or using the “Run” option): “cmd” to bring up the option for the Command Prompt, then right-clicking this and Run as Administrator.

Then, when the command prompt window is open, type “tasklist > C:\processlist.txt” (replace C:\ with a desired location) and hit Enter. This .txt file will appear at the designated location.

The following, while not the same as logs, can be extremely helpful for us to try and actually reproduce certain reported issues.

Save Game Files
Helpful when:
You repeatedly and consistently run into a gameplay or immersion-breaking issue that does not crash the game, etc.

Where to Obtain:
By default: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\House Party\Saves
