READ FIRST - Security Software Causing Major Issues with House Party and Various Launcher Platforms

Unfortunately, many security programs (Anti-Virus, Anti-Ransomware, Firewalls, Network Protection, "Realtime Security", etc.) like Avast, Comodo, BitDefender, Norton, etc., and even Windows Defender and Windows Firewall have caused major problems for our users as they can block your game's access to our servers, prevent access to story files, save files, and more.

Thoroughly follow the guidance below before playing House Party for the first time, or as a first step after running into any bugs.

ACCESSIBILITY OF FOLDERS AND FILES:
We need the following folders, their subfolders, and files they contain to be exempted/excluded/"white listed" by any and all security programs you have running (and if they are programs that have more than one tab/component, make sure to check each).

Everyone's individual drive and folder structure may differ, so use the user environment-based locations below to find our folders below on your system:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Eek
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp\Eek\
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Eek\
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Eek\

And the default install location for House Party (replace with your own installation folder, where HouseParty.exe is located, if needed):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\House Party\

VERIFY THAT PROCESSES CAN RUN NORMALLY:
If your security software blocks processes or applications specifically, make sure that the following two files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\House Party\ (or wherever the game is installed) are "unblocked", "exempted", or "excluded":

UnityCrashHandler64.exe
HouseParty.exe

ENSURE NETWORK CONNECTIVITY:
Your computer will also need to be able to access our game server (and if playing on Steam, make use of Steam's network services).

We access our game server using a standard web request exactly once every time the game is launched from Steam via the following: https://games.eekllc.com/ . So, for instance, if you try to access the following link into your browser and it does start downloading, you most likely have a connectivity error: https://games.eekllc.com/Download/stori ... .1.0.0.zip

In this case you'll need to check your firewall/network software to ensure connection via http/https to our server is allowed, that standard http/https ports are not blocked on your PC or router/modem, and that no other element between your PC and router is trying to redirect traffic away from our server to elsewhere (could be any number of applications, settings, or malware, unfortunately).
